COMIBAM Paper International on the Attack in Turkey
As International COMIBAM board feel the need to deliver a paper on attack occurred on Wednesday April 18 in Turkey and relate them to the Christian mission in the Muslim world.
1. We condemn without reservation acts that occurred last week and any kind of violence. Human life is God's creation must be valued and protected. We share the profound pain of relatives and relatives of those killed on Wednesday 18 April. We sympathize with those who are suffering.
2. We reject all hatred created for reasons of religion, politics or race and we condemn any statements of politicians, religious leaders and journalists to generate this hatred (Matthew 5.9).
3. We reject the notion that preach the Gospel among Muslims is a competition for spiritual and religious hegemony. Declare that evangelism among Muslims not fit under the rubric of terrorism and that salvation is to be announced to the Muslims. This is their right to receive the gospel as ours in promoting it.
4. We recognize that acts of violence and death does not reflect the desire of the vast majority of Muslims.
5. We recognize that the killings occurred on April 18 reflect the difficulty of the Great Commission of Christ, but this does not negate the mandate of God for discipleship of nations and even makes it more urgent (Matthew 28.16-20). The message of love and reconciliation of the gospel must be proclaimed that peace is restored (II Corinthians 5.11-6.2).
6. Declare the sovereignty of Jesus Christ to all people and our lives. God is in control of history and uses the story to work its will in the world (Proverbs 16.4). Despite the sin in man, God can use these circumstances to establish his kingdom of peace and salvation to the nations.
7. Declare God's love to all peoples without exception and the desire of physical, social and spiritual and obviously all the Muslim peoples. We sympathize with all who are suffering regardless of race, religion or political stance. Declare our understanding of evangelization among Muslims is a service of love, to bless in every physical need, social or spiritual.
8. We declare the right of all believers of all religions to practice and promote their religion and the right of each person converting from one religion to another, according to the Declaration of Human Rights United Nations. And further declare our belief that this should apply to both our countries Muslims and Christians in Muslim countries. Resolve to defend the rights of free worship for all faiths Iberoamerica as well for everyone.
9. We believe that the only way of guaranteeing and promoting peace and coexistence between Muslims and Christians is a tolerance based on the gospel message of love based on the fact that God has given us free will (Genesis 3). But we reject the plural notion that we should not evangelize as how to establish peace between different religions.
10. Finally, we believe that our commitment is to Jesus Christ and his Gospel, we declare ourselves his followers to proclaim and live the good news among all nations including the Muslim peoples. We are committed to do this with sensitivity, with an attitude of humility, repentance and love.
